I think the school system is doing the best that it can with what it has been given.
I do believe that our school system needs to take a serious look at other highly productive school systems in our country, like the puplic schools in Minnesota, Indiana, and California to see what they are doing right.
A major factor in the quality of our schools comes from monetary appropriations.
I think that our school system definitely has a skewed view of where money should be spent, and what should top the monetary priority list.
I also think there should be more accountability and monitoring of individual school’s progress. If a certain school is falling behind for whatever reason, it should be sent to the top of the list requiring immediate attention.
Too many times needy schools are being neglected across the board. They need immediate attention, and when they don’t get it, they fall by the wayside and eventually their needs get swept under the proverbial carpet. Nobody wins…everybody loses…teachers, students, parents, faculty & staff, the community.
Rowan-Salisbury schools need to model successful school systems in this country, in order to better itself as a whole and to improve the individual schools which so desperately need the help..
We need continued support and unsurpassed leadership…from the community, the state, the government, and the families.
There IS strength in numbers…and together we can work together to improve our school system which is, indeed, the foundation of our future generation.
The school system is preparing the students to pass the state tests only. The goal is to score high enough to make the teachers, administration, and school board look good. The actual educational value is lost. The single minded teaching to just pass those tests will not prepare the children for higher education. The school system even lowered the standards of graduation to gain higher numbers.
