The Oregon inlet bridge is not toll, the bridges over the inland waterway are not toll, there are many bridges over the Yadkin in the state and thet are not toll, why should the one in Rowan County be toll?

The bridge across the Yadkin should have been replaced 10 years ago !!! Especially before the multi lanes and interchanges south of Spencer. There is no foresight with the NC department of highways. A toll bridge would be just another bottle neck like others that already exist on I-85 .

So where exactly is our TAX money going? I thought the way it worked…..They take our income…..They (Govt) build bridges….Build schools……Fight off Russians…..I suppose spending $8 Billion per month in IRAQ leaves little money for bridges….school teachers……..Thanks GW

The geography and highway configuration surrounding a toll bridge on I85 at the Yadkin River is makes it financially unsound. The logistics of toll collection without a means of actually putting the cash in the pocket at the time of crossing and the fact that there are several bypass routes around it make it practically impossible for tolls to pay for the bridge in a reasonable time. It will be worn out 2 or 3 times before the first one is paid for.
