Landis OKs water, sewer bonds

LANDIS — The board of aldermen pushed the necessity for more than $6 million in water/sewer bonds and it seems the voters agreed, approving the bonds Tuesday.
Landis voters were asked on the ballot to approve a $6.7 million bond. Of that, the town will spend $4.5 million on its water system and $2.2 million on its sewer system.
Just more than 90 percent of those voting approved the water bonds and about the same percentage approved the sewer bonds.
The bonds will go toward replacing outdated water pipes and pump stations.
The top vote-getter was Tony Hilton, who received 216 votes or 21.56 percent of the votes. Dean Beck got 180 votes or 17.96 percent of the votes. Roger Safrit followed with 175 votes or 17.47 percent.
