Friday Five: Be a Refugee This EasterFor my first original Friday Five here at the Post, I thought I’d introduce you to some of my friends from the local blogosphere by inviting them to church with me. As for y’all, if you’re not going anywhere for church this coming Easter (one week from Sunday) - invite you to The Refuge’s Sunday Service we’re having at the Concord Convention Center and Embassy Suites on Bruton Smith Blvd on Easter Sunday at 10AM. Last year, I gave five reasons to join us at The Refuge for Easter service (if you’re not going anywhere else). This year, I’m naming the five people I’m inviting to church on Sunday. 5. Joanie “I’ve Recently Discovered the Church of NASCAR” Morris (SalisburyPostables - Kannapolis & Kannapolis Citizen). There’s no race on Easter…you won’t be missing the underdogs. Also, we have really good childcare (for those who don’t know - Joanie is a relatively new mommy) 4. Brad “I’m a Deacon In The Church Of NASCAR” Spry (Kannapolis 2.0). See #5. You’ve got nothing better to do. If nothing else, there’s some cool art and architecture in the Embassy Suites lobby that you can use as photos on your blog. Brad has, hands down, the coolest photos on his blog. 3. Thierry “I’m no Crusader” Wearners (Left on 49). At many churches, the Obama 2008 sticker on your car would make you unwelcome. At others, you would be the target of a prayer meeting. At ours, you might find a kindred spirit (it would take a little lookin’) 2. Aaron “Jesus is OK - it’s your candidate I can’t stand” McBroom (The Brain Cell Destroyer) - If you make it on Sunday, you’ll probably be the only Libertarian in the room. Actually, when you walk into most places you’re the only Libertarian in the joint. 1. You (SailsburyPostables & Cabarrus Cheap Seats) - I’ve given you plenty of reasons to scoot on by The Refuge on Easter - like our cool video wasn’t enough. But why mention you with a bunch of bloggers. Well, both my site (Cabarrus Cheap Seats) and SalisburyPostables allow readers to submit posts for others to read. If you were ever interested in expressing your opinion online, these are good places to start. I’m even reconfiguring my site to better accommodate people who want to post material. See y’all Monday. Justin, you are so very cool. I’ll be there! I started attending First Baptist, located beside the Core Lab, late last year. So FYI, I don’t JUST worship at the church of Earnhardt ;-)
I’ve also been a member of Trinity United Methodist, across the street from A.L. Brown, ALL my life.
Your invitation is a blessing! Thank you again!
P.S. The number three is significant to both racing and church. I think about this often and how it all relates to Kannapolis. Still working on the answer…
